The Brave of Heart Fund

They protect
our families.

We knew we had to do the same for them.

The Brave of Heart Fund application window has now closed. In total, the Fund granted $25+ million dollars, helping over 600 families who lost healthcare worker loved ones to COVID-19.

About the Fund

Together, New York Life and Cigna, through our foundations, created the Brave of Heart Fund®, dedicated to providing financial support in the form of charitable relief grants to help families of healthcare workers who lost their lives to COVID-19. At this time, the application period has closed, and remaining funds will be donated to COVID-19 related charities.

Our Impact

They took such good care of us. In total, the Brave of Heart Fund helped care for over 600 families who lost healthcare workers to COVID-19, granting $25+ million dollars.

How we've helped

The Hero Art Project

The Brave of Heart Fund partnered with ARTHOUSE.NYC to present an art exhibit with portraits honoring our fallen healthcare heroes. All portraits in the Hero Art Project exhibit featured healthcare workers who lost their lives fighting COVID-19.

Helping those in need, whenever they need it

Even though the Brave of Heart Fund grants have ended, our support continues

Grief Resources

For over 175 years New York Life has helped families in times of grief, and we will continue to do so. Research shows that those who lose a loved one wish they had more support available to them. As a corporate leader in providing childhood bereavement support, New York Life stands ready to help both financially and emotionally, having donated over $16 million to educational and bereavement programs in 2021.
